WE'RE ON A MISSION

We started purchasing books back in 2007 from the university of Kentucky and have since then grown from 3 guys and a garage operation to a nation-wide Benefit Corporation with over 40 buyers across the country. Every year we help students save over $5 million in textbook costs and donate literal tons of used textbooks to non-profit organizations overseas. We are also a member of AASHE, the community of higher education sustainability professionals, and take pride in the fact that our business helps reduce landfill waste and promote the reuse of textbooks.

THE TRUE PRICE OF TEXTBOOKS

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, textbook prices have risen over three times the rate of inflation from January 1977 to June 2015, a 1,041 percent increase. The price has risen so high that 65% of students have at one point or another avoided buying a book required for class.

The real crime is that changes between textbook editions are minimal. Usually publishers will add a new cover, a couple of articles and move around the chapters inside the book. Many professors have noticed this and to help save their students money they have started to allow older, similar editions to be used in their classrooms.
