Hi everyone; remember this goes under Recycle-A-Textbook -- our B Corp entity.

What is a B Corp?

B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk. B Corps are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Today, there is a growing community of more than 1,600 Certified B Corps from 42 countries and over 120 industries working together toward 1 unifying goal: to redefine success in business.

WhY should people use us?

We pay 5-10 times as much as they would get from Better World Books, and we are local. We partner with departments, clubs and organizations on their campus to help with fundraising. We employ college kids to help them make money and build a resume. Better World Books isn't a charity or non-profit. The books are sent to Indiana, right outside of Chicago. They're a b corp just like we are. Also, because we use college kids on campuses, the bins are serviced much more frequently.

WHEN should you set up donation programs?

NOW. Because the semester is nearing its end, and buybacks are right around the corner, if you do not set up a donation bin program now, you will miss out on hundreds of SGV after the semester is over. During the school year, donation bin programs, if done properly, will generate about 5,000 SGV per campus, per semester.

HOW Do I do this?

  1. THINK: Work out from your bookstore customers. Set up the bookstore first, then spreading throughout campus will be much easier
  2. Go talk to the textbook manager you worked with before, and explain the concept of the donation bins
  3. Don't panic if they need a few days--this is very normal
  4. Follow up
